As a trailing plant, the Lipstick Plant creates a lush, cascading display that adds beauty to any indoor space. The slender stems allow these plants to cascade gracefully from suspended planters or off a corner of an elevated shelf.
CARE:
- Water when the first 1/4 to 1/3 of the soil is dry during the growing season (spring/summer)
- During the colder months, you can allow the first 1/2 of the soil to dry before water- it's crucial not to maintain soggy soil as this can quickly lead to rot.
- Appreciates moderate humidity
- It does best with bright, indirect light and benefits from a few hours of morning or evening sun, but prolonged exposure to intense afternoon sun can scorch and wilt the leaves.
- Keep away from drafty windows.
- Can tolerant periods of lower light, but consistent light is needed for "lipstick" blooms to occur
- Pruning is not essential, but trimming broken, scraggly, or old stems can improve the plant's overall appearance and potentially lead to a fuller, leafier plant.
- You can pinch off spent flowers to promote further blooming.
