The Birkin's pin-striped foliage and its upright and compact structure make for an ideal tabletop or desk plant. It is not uncommon to observe remnants of dark red along the stems and leaves due to the congo being one of its parent plants. This plant is a hybrid of Philodendrons 'Rojo Congo' and Imperial Green."

CARE

  • It does best in consistent bright indirect light- avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.
  • It appreciates humidity, but it's not a requirement.
  • Water when the 1/4 of the soil is dry

The degree of variegation will differ per individual plant. Additionally, please note that entirely white leaves on a plant will begin to brown and die off, typically due to a lack of chlorophyll production. It is best to prune off if you observe several entirely white leaves on the plant. These leaves cannot contribute to the plant's energy production. Removing these leaves allows the plant to allocate resources towards healthier foliage that can contribute to its growth. Pruning off the non-functional leaves can also help improve the plant's overall appearance.
