The Variegated Goldfish Plant is a unique variety of the classic Goldfish Plant, featuring beautiful green leaves with creamy white or yellow edges. This variegation adds a striking contrast to the plant’s cascading foliage, enhancing its visual appeal. The leaves are small, thick, and waxy, helping retain moisture, and often develop a slight pink tint along the edges when exposed to consistent expsoure to light.
In addition to its decorative foliage, the plant produces vibrant orange, tubular flowers that resemble tiny goldfish, hence its name. These darling blooms pops up against the variegated leaves and adding a playful touch. This variety is excellent for a suspended planter, where its trailing marbled stems can be displayed to its potential.
As the plant matures, a "corking" can be observed. This is a natural response to aging where the plant’s lower stems develop a rough, bark-like texture over time to support heavier growth above. In the case of the Goldfish Plant, which can become dense and trailing, the thicker, corked base helps anchor and support the lush upper foliage.
