This epiphytic cactus is native to Mexico and exhibits unique spineless, slender, flattened, leaf-like stems with a pronounced, serrated edge, hence its name "Fernleaf." This jungle cactus is also known for its large, ephemeral night-blooming flowers.
CARE:
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct afternoon sun, although a couple of hours of direct morning sun can be beneficial for this plant
- Allow the first 1/2 3/4 of the soil to dry before watering
- During the peak summer months, keep the slightly moist but not soggy so water when the top inch of the soil feels dry.
- During the dormant period in late fall and winter, reduce watering.
- Allow the soil to dry out more between waterings.
- Humidity is appreciated but not essential.
- When repotting, ensure a well-draining soil mix.
