Rhipsalis pilocarpa is native to Central and South America and is typically nestled into the tropical rainforest canopy. Its slender, cylindrical stems feature tiny, hair-like spines and can produce delicate white flowers. Stems are generally green and sometimes tinged with hints of reddish or purplish hues with extended exposure to light. The colour change is often observed during the summer months. The pendulous growth habit makes this plant an excellent choice for suspended or elevated planters.

CARE:

  • It does best with consistent medium-bright indirect light, and it can benefit from a few hours of the morning sun
  • Avoid prolonged periods to direct afternoon during the summer months
  • Allow the first 1/3-1/2 of the soil to dry before watering- don't allow the soil to dry out completely
  • Although this plant can tolerate a drier environment, it tends to do best in moderate humidity
  • Keep away from drafty windows.
