DO YOU HAVE GIFT CARDS?

Yes, we do! We have various denominations of e-gift cards ranging from $15-$200. Gift cards do not expire and can be used in-store or online. Gift cards can be found here in the "Gifts & Party Favours" category, or you can type "gift card" into the search bar at the top of the homepage. Gift cards can be purchased online or in-store and emailed to yourself (to forward or print out) for the recipient. 

 

DO YOU OFFER OPTIONS FOR GIFT-WRAPPING AND/OR PERSONALIZED GIFT MESSAGES? 

We do not offer gift-wrapping services, but you can include a personalized gift message during the checkout process under "Additional Notes." We have blank cards that we can write your message onto. 

 

I PREVIOUSLY SAW AN ITEM I WAS INTERESTED IN, BUT I NO LONGER SEE IT ON THE WEBSITE. DOES THIS MEAN THAT IT'S NO LONGER AVAILABLE?

 If it's unavailable on the website or reads "SOLD OUT," this indicates we do not currently have this item in stock for purchase. Please keep your eye out for our weekly restocks (Friday). Everything available on the website accurately reflects what's currently in stock. It undergoes real-time updates, meaning that as customers purchase products, the quantity purchased is immediately removed from the online store. 

If the item is available online, then it's truly available. You can secure it by purchasing it via the online shop and scheduling it for in-store pick-up (38 Auriga Drive) or local delivery (Ottawa/Hull).

 

IS THE AVAILABLE INVENTORY ON THE WEBSITE UP-TO-DATE?

We pride ourselves on providing a seamless online shopping experience. Our inventory is updated in real-time, meaning that what you see on our website reflects precisely what is available for purchase at that moment. This ensures that you have access to the most accurate and up-to-date information about our products. Real-time inventory updates assure you that the items on our website are currently in stock.

 

HOW DO I SECURE MY DESIRED ITEM(S)?

We understand that finding the perfect plant or accessory for your space is important to you. That's why we encourage you to act promptly when you find an item you love. Due to the real-time nature of our inventory system, popular items may sell out quickly. To avoid missing out, we recommend purchasing online to secure the desired item (s). You can set your order for store pick-up or local delivery (Ottawa/Hull). A calendar will appear at the checkout screen to select your preferred day. 

 

IS THE PLANT I'LL RECEIVE THE EXACT ONE IN THE PHOTO? 

As a retailer, we usually receive multiples of each plant, so it is unlikely that you'll receive the same plant in the advertised photo. We can best describe plants as siblings but not twins. We will often include several images of the same variety to demonstrate the variation in appearance to viewers. Our plants are healthy and similar in appearance/size, but please be mindful that these are live plants, so no two are identical. 

 

WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO SEND ME PHOTOS OF THE SELECTION? I PREFER TO PICK MY OWN PLANTS. 

 Unfortunately, we are unable to send pictures of individual plants. However, you can visit our retail store at 38 Auriga Drive during business hours to peruse plants in person.

  • Saturday/Sunday: 10 am-4 pm
  • Monday/Tuesday: CLOSED

 

DO YOU SELL POTTING SOIL?

Yes, we do! Be mindful that plants grow amongst different parts of nature in various parts of the world, so their needs will vary. Using a potting media suitable for the plant genus aids longevity. Our potting media caters to different plant categories. It's locally hand-mixed in small batches using high-quality ingredients to support your indoor plants' healthy growth and development.

We currently offer premium potting mixes for the following:

  • Aglaonema 
  • Anthurium 
  • Alocasia 
  • Cactus/Succulent 
  • Philodendron 
  • Ficus 
  • Terrarium 
  • Calathea/Maranta
  • Hoya 
  • Terrarium (bioactive and suitable for enclosed vessels)
*Please be mindful that ingredients can vary in appearance depending on supplier and market availability

    Of course! Minor amendments can create a mix best suited for your plant(s). Please email us at info@houseofplants.ca with your inquiry.

     

    CAN I BRING MY PLANT INTO THE SHOP FOR REPOTTING? 

    We're sorry, but this isn't a service that we offer. We can walk you through the repotting process. Please refrain from bringing outside plants into the shop. 

     

    ARE YOUR PLANTS FREE OF PESTS? 

    Although we perform extensive quality control assessments on all plants, realistically, there is always a risk for pests regarding live plants. Pests are especially prevalent during our warmer seasons since most households tend to leave our doors/windows open, and the increased temperatures aid the hatching of eggs. Pests can hitchhike from wind, pets, produce, and even our clothes. That said, we recommend (no matter what/who the source of your houseplants is) isolating all new plants for 2-4 weeks (lifecycle of common pests). You can also do a precautionary rinse and spray-down with a pyrethrin-based formula. Incorporating pest inspection into your plant care routine is the best approach. Horticultural pests have evolved and survived by "hiding" from us. You will typically find the pests or the damage they leave behind on the underside or along the stems before you observe them on the top of the foliage. 

     

    CAN I BRING MY PLANT(S) INTO THE STORE FOR YOU TO DIAGNOSE?

    Unfortunately, we cannot allow outside plants into the shop. We put a lot of effort into maintaining a controlled environment. This policy is in place to maintain the health and well-being of our plants and prevent potential pest or disease transmission. We understand that you may have questions or concerns about your plants. If you require insight into an ailing plant in your possession, we recommend taking photos of the plant and showing them to us in person, or you can send them via email, and we will try our best to figure out the issue and advise on best practices. Thank you for your understanding and helping us maintain a healthy and safe environment for all our plants and customers.

     

    DO YOU HAVE GUARANTEES ON PLANTS?

    We do not offer guarantees on plants. However, we can best advise you on how to keep your plants happy. We uphold a stringent quality control process when accepting plants into the store and maintaining them while in our care. While we can't guarantee the long-term survival of a plant due to variations in care and environment once it leaves the shop, we're here to support you with care information.

     

    I'M SEEKING A PARTICULAR PLANT/PRODUCT. 

    We primarily operate as an e-commerce store, and the website inventory is always up to date. If you are seeking a particular item, please use the search bar at the top of the homepage. 

     

    I CAN'T FIND WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR ON THE WEBSITE. CAN YOU ORDER SPECIFIC PLANTS/PRODUCTS?

    Possibly. Please let us know what you are looking for, and we will try our best to accommodate your request or let you know if we may stock it in the near future. We may request a deposit before ordering in the requested plant. 

     

    CAN I BE NOTIFIED WHEN A SPECIFIC ITEM IS IN STOCK?

    Unfortunately, we do not offer waitlists. Items are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. However, we restock the website every Friday. You can secure your desired plant(s) by purchasing it online and selecting a pick-up or delivery day that best fits your schedule. The online inventory accurately reflects what is currently in stock and gets updated in real-time. 

     

    DO YOU OFFER WHOLESALE?

    We're sorry, but we do not offer wholesale discounts. We are a boutique shop, so we do not typically stock enough inventory to fulfill this request. However, if you are interested in corporate gifting or party favours, we can offer a discounted rate for a minimum of X12 units.
