This cane Begonia has been carefully trained through an intricate process to achieve this sculptural silhouette and balanced form, creating the appearance of a miniature indoor tree.

It starts with a single vigorous cane that is gradually shaped upward through meticulous staking and pruning. The lower foliage is gradually removed to achieve an elegant, trunk-like stem, while repeated pinching encourages a refined canopy of cascading leaves. This elevated canopy gives the plant an airy silhouette that instantly draws the eye by emphasizing vertical interest. Its unique combination of whimsical spotted foliage, graceful flowers, and elegant structure makes this Begonia a fantastic statement plant for interior spaces.

CARE:

  • Bright, indirect light is ideal. Avoid harsh midday sun, which can scorch leaves. Long periods of low light can dull leaves and stunt growth. A few hours of morning sun can be beneficial for the plant.
  •  Water when the top 1/4 of the soil is dry. Do not let the soil fully dry out.
  • Prefers moderate to high humidity. Crispy leaf edges usually indicate it needs more humidity.
  • Avoid letting water sit on the leaves, and ensure adequate airflow, as Begonias are susceptible to powdery mildew
  • Avoid exposing the plant to drafts or sudden temperature fluctuations. This plant is sensitive to cold temperatures.
  • To maintain the development of a “trunk” and  a tree-like form, prune the lower leaves as needed
