This Begonia's stems are somewhat cane-like and develop woody trunk-like structures as they mature. The plant has a natural upright growth habit, and as it ages, the lower leaves may drop off, greatly emphasizing the trunk and foliage at the top. This plant produces clusters of delicate flowers. They consist of five petals arranged in a circular pattern. The blooms are typically short-lived and tend to complement the foliage rather than be the main feature of the Begonia Tamaya.
CARE:
It can tolerate periods of lower light, but it does best with consistent medium-bright indirect sun-no direct afternoon sun as this will scorch the leaves
It does best in medium humidity setting
Avoid exposing the plant to drafts or sudden temperature fluctuations.
Water when the first 1-2 inches of soil is dry to maintain slightly moist but not soggy soil.
Avoid misting directly into the leaves and do not allow water to pool on the leaves.
To encourage the development of a trunk and maintain a tree-like form, you can prune the ower leaves as the plant grows.
