Hatiora salicornioides is native to the coastal regions of Brazil, where it grows epiphytically on trees or rock surfaces. The cylindrical stems have a segmented, jointed appearance, resembling tiny fingers, giving them a distinctive, almost skeletal look, hence its nickname, "dancing bones" cactus. You may observe small, star-shaped flowers during the spring/summer. The cascading growth habit makes this plant ideal for suspended or elevated planters.
CARE:
- It does best with consistent medium-bright indirect light, and it can benefit from a few hours of the morning sun
- Avoid prolonged periods to direct afternoon during the summer months
- Allow the first 1/2 of the soil to dry before watering- don't allow the soil to dry out completely
- Although this plant can tolerate a drier environment, it tends to do best in moderate humidity
- Keep away from drafty windows.
