Gasteraloe hybrids are a cross between Gasteria and Aloe, combining the best traits of both parents. These succulents feature thick leaves arranged in tidy rosettes or compact clusters. Like Gasteria, Gasteraloe are more adaptable to indoor light conditions than many traditional succulents. While they appreciate consistent bright, indirect light, they can tolerate periods of moderate light without stretching as quickly as most other light-hungry succulent varieties. That said, they’ll maintain their most compact shape and vibrant colouring in brighter spaces. These hybrids make reliable, long-lasting houseplants that are well-suited to Canadian homes where light levels naturally fluctuate throughout the year.
CARE:
- Does best with consistent bright indirect light
- Allow the soil to dry out completely before watering, then thoroughly water and let any excess drain away. Do not leave your plant sitting in soggy soil, as consistently wet roots will quickly lead to rot.
-
Household humidity is fine for these succulents. In fact, dry air is perfectly fine for this desert native. Keeping them in consistently humid areas like bathrooms or right next to the shower, where excess moisture is present, can encourage rot.
