The plant has large, glossy, dark green leaves that are slightly leathery in texture. Medinilla can produce large, pendulous clusters of waxy dark pink flowers that usually bloom during Spring/Summer. If you observe an abundance of flowers, the plant may need some support to keep its branches from drooping excessively since the flowers are quite heavy compared to the stems, so use stakes or a trellis if necessary. This plant commonly excretes calcium crystals- a salt-like substance on its leaves and stems. Don't be alarmed; this is a normal process for the plant!

CARE:

• Place the plant where it can receive consistent bright, indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, so it is best to avoid intense afternoon sun. A couple of hours of morning sun is fine.
• Protect from cold drafts and temperatures, so keep away from drafty windows.
• It does best in moderate-high humidity levels.
• Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged—water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry.
• Water regularly during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce the frequency in fall and winter to prevent the soil from drying out completely.
• Prune to maintain the plant's shape and remove dead or damaged leaves. Pruning can also help encourage bushier growth.
