Bring Mediterranean charm into your home with an olive tree — a graceful plant known for its small leaves, elegant structure, and long lifespan. While it likely will not fruit indoors in our Canadian climate, Olive Trees offer a timeless aesthetic to interior spaces. It is reasonably drought-tolerant and adaptable to the indoors if provided sufficient light.

CARE:

• Requires at least 6 hours of bright, direct sunlight per day. A south- or west-facing window is ideal.
• Take advantage of the summer months and leave outdoors as the olive tree loves basking in the sunshine (just acclimate slowly to prevent sunburn or shocking the plant).
• This plant can be prone to acclimatization shock if there’s a sudden change in its environment. It's best to keep it in a warm, consistent environment and avoid abrupt temperature shifts to cold drafts or intense heat, which can stress the plant.
• Water when the top 1/3 of the soil is dry. Do not keep the soil soggy or allow the soil to completely dry out. Be mindful that these plants are much heavier drinkers in the summer months, especially when placed outdoors, so water accordingly.
• Prefers a drier environment, so there is no need to run a humidifier near this plant. It is fine with household humidity.
• Prune to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth. Trim leggy branches during the growing season.
