The Peace Lily is a classic, elegant houseplant loved for its lush green foliage and graceful white blooms.
Its deep green, glossy leaves grow in a full, fountain-like clump, creating a rich tropical look that instantly softens any indoor space. Rising above the foliage are its iconic white flowers that, interestingly enough, are not actual flowers. The white portion is a "bract." This is a hood that grows over the flowers. The actual flowers are the spikey-textured cylindrical part.
Peace Lilies are valued for their ability to thrive indoors while maintaining a lush, vibrant appearance. Like most houseplants, they do best with bright indirect light, but they are quite tolerant of lower light conditions. However, you are less likely to observe an abundance of blooms. Their slightly dramatic nature also makes them surprisingly communicative houseplants; the leaves will visibly droop when thirsty, then perk back up quickly after watering. However, avoid allowing the soil to completely dry out and for the plant to completely wilt. Yes, it will bounce back to an extent, but this constant dehydration can take a toll.
With its elegant blooms, lush foliage, and forgiving nature, the Peace Lily remains one of the most beloved indoor plants. It's a timeless choice that brings softness, freshness, and tranquillity to indoor spaces.
CARE:
- Prefers bright, indirect light, but is highly adaptable and can tolerate medium to low light conditions. Brighter light encourages more frequent flowering
- Water when the first 1/4 of the soil is dry. Peace Lilies are known to droop when thirsty, but they recover quickly after watering. However, avoid allowing the soil to completely dry out and for the plant to completely wilt.
- Thrives in moderate to high humidity. Average household humidity is usually sufficient, but higher humidity will encourage lusher growth and help prevent brown leaf tips.
