The Piper nigrum is a tropical vine that brings both beauty and a touch of the exotic into your home. This climbing plant features slender, vining stems lined with glossy, heart-shaped leaves in a rich, vibrant green. The foliage has a slightly leathery texture with subtle veining, giving it a refined, polished look.

A surprising feature of this plant is the presence of tiny calcium oxalate crystals on the undersides of the leaves. These can appear as small, grain-like or crystalline structures and are completely normal. This is a natural part of the plant’s physiology, not a sign of pests or disease.

CARE:

• Prefers bright, indirect light. Can benefit from some direct morning sun, but harsh afternoon rays cam scorch the leaves.
• Does best in a high-humidity setting. If humidity is too low, the leaves may dry out or develop crisping edges. 
• Avoid exposing the plant to drafts as it is very sensitive to cold.
• Water when the first 1/4 of the top soil is dry. Try to maintain slightly moist but not soggy soil. Do not allow the soil is dry out completely.
  Avoid letting water puddle on the leaves
