The Variegated Fiddle Leaf Fig is a rare and elegant form of the classic Ficus lyrata. Its violin-shaped leaves are beautifully marbled with shades of creamy white, lime, and deep green.
CARE:
- Requires consistent bright indirect light with a few hours of gentle direct morning or later afternoon sun to maintain its vibrant variegation. If light is insufficient, this will stunt growth and reduce variegation.
- Water when the first 1/3-1/2 of the soil is dry. Do not allow the soil to completely dry out. To avoid *edema, try to maintain a consistent watering routine rather than alternating between very dry and very wet soil.
- Prefers moderate to high humidity (50–70%). While it adapts well to average household conditions, higher humidity encourages lush growth and helps prevent crispy leaf edges.
*It is quite common for Ficus lyrata to occasionally develop edema. This appears as small corky spots or tiny raised blemishes on the leaves caused when the roots absorb water faster than the leaves can release it. This is often more noticeable on variegated plants because the lighter portions of the leaves make these marks easier to see. Edema is not contagious and is generally a cosmetic issue rather than a sign of poor plant health. To prevent edema, ensure adequate airflow and maintain a consistent watering routine rather than alternating between very dry and very wet soil.
